The design team, led by Ting Fai Chu and including Ao Yeung Lai I, drew inspiration from the lotus, a symbol deeply connected to Buddhism. They enhanced the details of the lotus, generating an extraordinary calm atmosphere in the restaurant. The laser-cut metal lotus pattern and smooth blue upholstery create an organic, natural elegance, setting Love Veggie apart from other dining establishments.
The unique properties of Love Veggie lie in its innovative use of materials, patterns, and forms. The design team converted the lotus image into these elements, creating a series of lotus forms that provoke the senses. The restaurant is approximately 350 square meters, providing ample space for the lotus-inspired design to unfold.
The realization of Love Veggie's design involved the use of laser-cut gold color metal, blue upholstery, and wood veneer. The main featured lighting presented a significant challenge, particularly the custom-made procedure of fabrication and installation. The team also had to resolve the weight of the featured lighting during installation.
The project began in November 2020 in Macau and was completed in October 2021. The design research focused on provoking the senses through the lotus form and enhancing the details of the lotus to create a calm atmosphere. The result is a restaurant that not only serves vegetarian cuisine but also offers a unique dining experience.
Love Veggie's innovative design has not gone unnoticed. The restaurant was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022. This prestigious accolade is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Love Veggie certainly fits this description, with its strong technical characteristics, splendid artistic skill, and remarkable level of excellence.
